I first served six years in the Navy aboard the fast-attack submarine USS Puffer as an electrician's mate. In 1984, I graduated from College of the Desert and then from University of Southern California in 1986. After covering hard news for 32 years, I retired from the Fresno Bee in 2019. In 2022, I picked up the pen again. My goal is to put a spotlight on Fresno politics, police and courts and on the people who made a difference.
As a librarian by day and amateur webmaster slash copy editor by night, I spent my childhood reading the local newspaper over a bowl of cereal every morning. Some of my fondest father-daughter memories were of me tagging along with him on a scoop. Though I never ended up pursing a profession in journalism, I became involved in the Mills College's student newspaper, first starting out as a copy editor and later becoming Copy Chief the following year. I then went on to graduate from San José State University with a master's in Library and Information Science. Now, I am proud to help my dad continue to share his stories again.
